There is nothing more lovely to me and my husband than a wintery desert sky. Maybe it’s because of the way it completely transforms the desert we commonly think of: that hot steamy dry place, heavy with golden tones and clear blue skies. I love the desert. I love living surrounded by it. Many people look at the desert and only see brown dirt. They don’t get it… and that’s okay. It takes a certain type of person to truly appreciate its diversity and magnificent beauty. Those of us who love the desert know of the special places where its mystery unfolds before us. Since the majority of people never see these places, it only makes these places more dear to us.
This painting I created for myself as a tribute to the wintery desert sky. It was hanging in my living room for many months before I decided to put it on display at Gaia for this holiday season. I hope you enjoy it! And if it’s not for you, that’s okay, too, because it’s still just as special (if not more so) to me.
